WE WEREN’T HAPPY WITH THE AVAILABLE NETWORK SOLUTIONS, SO WE BUILT OUR OWN.
The organisation of tomorrow needs a cleverly designed, high-performance network to perform and compete.
We’ve built the Vocus network to give our customers the most straightforward route to better business outcomes.
Our network, combined with the rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) in Australia and the Ultra-Fast Broadband project (UFB) network in New Zealand, improves the Company’s competitive position to provide a range services to its targeted market segments.
We've got Australia covered
We make it a point to operate just about everywhere our customers do. We connect to over 5,000 buildings across Australian capital cities and have near-net connectivity to an additional 20,000 buildings.
Our Australian fibre network is now over 23,000 km and growing. We’re always looking to grow our network—tell us where you'd like to connect, and we'll work to make it happen.
We’ve built our network to cater to the specific needs of smart businesses. We know that fast-growing businesses need to be responsive, innovative and efficient so that’s what we’ve designed our products and service to be.
Whether you need to link multiple sites within the same capital city, connect to your data centre or join one or more interstate sites, or you just need some seriously good business grade internet, we can help you design a solution that is:
- – Scalable from 50Mbps to 100Gbps+
- – Available when and where you need it
- – Highly secure, redundant and resilient
We builT the network
Designed and built by our own team of highly skilled fibre engineers.
We own the network
Which gives you easier, straightforward access.
We manage the network
Straightforward access to our Australian 24/7 Network Operations Centre.
NEW ZEALAND'S MOST MODERN FIBRE NETWORK
In 2016, we created a true trans-Tasman network, providing our customers with control and visibility across the entire network.
The core network, operating largely on its own 7,000km of fibre, can deliver in speed increments up to 100Gbps (and up to 8Tbps per fibre pair on existing core infrastructure). Whether you need to connect multiple sites within the same New Zealand city or town, connect to other locations further afield, or connect to your data centre (or one of ours), our national NZ network has you covered. For our customers who value flexibility, we can provision n x 10Gb of on-net services in a matter of days. And for those who must have diversity, our fully redundant architecture means there’s always another path for your traffic to take.
We offer secure, carrier-grade connectivity far beyond our own borders.
The Vocus international network carries traffic from Australia and New Zealand to the United States via the Southern Cross Cable Network (SCCN). The SCCN has a figure-eight design, with physically diverse paths built in for protection and redundancy should a segment be cut or damaged. In addition, as a 10% Consortium Member of the SeaMeWe-3 cable, we have available direct capacity and low latency connectivity into Asia via the only direct cable from Perth to Singapore, as well as from Sydney via the Australian Japan Cable (AJC) to Guam then onwards via Asia America Gateway (AAG) to Hong Kong.
The Vocus international network supports low bandwidth applications through to data hungry ones like voice and video. It serves a variety of end users ranging from some of the world’s largest companies though to Australian and New Zealand SMEs.
In addition to Australian and New Zealand, we have global points of presence (PoPs) in multiple locations in the United States, Singapore and Hong Kong—ensuring you the most straightforward routes to the world’s top content and applications.
On 6th December 2016, we announced an agreement with Alcatel Submarine Networks for the construction of the Australia Singapore Cable (ASC). The ASC project is a ~4,600km submarine cable system linking Australia to Singapore, and Indonesia, with a system design providing a minimum of 40Tbps of capacity from Western Australia to South East Asia, with this capacity forecast to expand via technology advancements over the coming years.
The ASC, in combination with Nextgen’s trans-Australian fibre network, creates a fully interconnected, high capacity fibre network owned by Vocus from the East Coast of Australia through to Singapore (via Perth), with direct connectivity into Indonesia (population 230m+). In combination with the Nextgen network, ASC delivers Vocus a unique competitive advantage which provides a platform to increase utilisation of both assets.
